Hi!! I'm Mackenzie. I'm a kindergarten teacher at heart on a mission to help mamas and their littles set the foundation for a successful school career. I believe the way we work through school is more important than the schooling itself. Kindergarten is a big year for moms and littles, and I'm here to help you before and during that big year!

background

In 2015, I graduated from Oregon State University with two degrees and my teaching license. In 2017, I graduated with my Master's in Education from Concordia University.
  • Master's in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction
  • B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Early Child Development
  • B.S. in Elementary Education
  • Teacher's License in the state of Oregon (OR has some of the highest requirements for an educators teaching license).

During my undergrad, I spent my Fridays in elementary classrooms in one of the highest ranking school districts in the nation: Lake Oswego School District. I had well over the required practicum hours prior to graduation. This commitment and dedication led to being hired immediately after graduation. I began teaching kindergarten in the fall of 2015. During my first year as a kindergarten teacher I earned my Master's Degree. I continued to be involved in various committees and was a leader in pushing for updating the educational system and practices.

I grew up knowing I wanted to be a teacher. In 2nd grade, a friend turned to me and asked, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" -- my response came to fruition 13 years later when I became a kindergarten teacher right there in my own elementary school.

Fun fact: I thought kindergarten was the only grade I would say a hard NO to, but it turns out kindergarten and I were made for each other. I absolutely LOVED this age. The challenges, the innocence, the pure intentions... all of it.

As soon as I entered the classroom, I knew I wouldn't be there forever. For one, I truly don't know how people can be kindergarten teachers AND have littles at home, and two -- I just knew I was going to take my skills elsewhere.

When the pandemic hit and the online education world blew up, I took that as my sign to go for it. It was one of the hardest and best decisions I've made.
