The ultimate morning jumpstart

I have always LOVED to read blogs about people’s morning routines… Maybe it’s because I’m always looking for a better way to do things. Or possibly it’s because I’ve only recently become a “morning person” so I was looking for inspiration.

I used to only feel truly awake and ready for facing my day after an intense 45 minute spin class. Right now, that’s not a possibility (for a number of reasons), but I’d still like to feel that same alert and ready to go before starting my day.

These three products get me ready for a productive day as well as feeling like I’ve already done some “self care” before 7am.

Step 1: Dry Brush

I’ve ready many blogs and how-to’s on dry brushing and they mostly agree. You start at your feet and work your way to your heart. The scientific purpose is to encourage lymphatic drainage and circulation. Hence why you work your way to your heart. Some people say to limit it to once a week and others suggest twice daily. I aim for once a day and here’s what I do:

  1. Start at my feet & use long strokes to work my way up your legs in a circular motion. I do one leg, then the other. I go up my glutes to my back as well.
  2. Then I start at my hands and do the same up my arms. At my armpits, I continue the circular motion & draw down toward my chest.
  3. Third, I draw down the sides of my neck and briefly over the upper part of my chest.
  4. Finally, I do “clockwise circular” down my stomach & sides.

Step 2: Shower + Eucalyptus Body Wash

Nécessaire’s Eucalyptus Body Wash smells like you’ve walked straight into the spa. Spas are usually relaxing, but eucalyptus is always invigorating. I love following my dry brushing with their body wash to keep the “wake up” vibe going. It’s also packed with vitamins for your skin. Similar to Beautycounter’s Never List, Nécessaire has a “no list” and chooses ingredients that are not only good for you, but also ethically sourced.

Step 3: Hydrate

Beautycounter’s Countermatch Adaptive Body Moisturizer has a subtle scent and is an incredible daily body moisturizer. No sticky residue, you can go from shower to moisturizer to clothes in a matter of minutes. It has squalane, plum oil, phytic acid & aloe vera – need I say more?

And that’s a wrap! I like to do this quick run through for my morning shower every day to set the tone.

Let me know how it goes for you when you give this a try!

xo,

Mackenzie
